Welcome to Ardleigh

Ardleigh is a semi-rural village found 4 miles to the East of Colchester with the nearest main line railway station being found to the West (3 miles) of Manningtree. At the core of Ardleigh Village centre is Mary the Virgin Church found on the crossroads of the A137. Many of the buildings in this area are period and character-packed homes with the sprawling countryside roads radiating out of the village having larger plots and a history of being small-holdings.

A mile to the South East is Ardleigh Reservoir, a 120 acre reservoir that supplies the water needs of North Essex and, of interest to the fisherman, contains many 40lbs+ common and mirror carp with the odd pike!

Green Island - 20 acres of private gardens, professionally designed by its owner Fiona Edmund, but open to the public.  Well worth a visit to see this beautifully laid out series of structured gardens displaying many unusual trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs.
