Welcome to Kirby Le Soken

Kirby-le-Soken is located in North East Essex near to Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze.  The name means "village by the church".  An agricultural and increasingly residential corner of the county, the village has managed to stay distinct and separate from the growing conurbations of Frinton and Walton.

Home to some fantastic natural landscapes of saltmarshes, mudflats and creeks: - Hamford Water National Nature Reserve, a biological site of scientific interest; Skippers Island, owned and managed by Essex Wildlife Trust, it is connected to the mainland by two causeways and access is only by prior arrangement with the Trust;  Pennyhole Bay, a stretch of water just east of Walton-on-the-Naze where the annual Pennyhole Bay Gaff Rig Sailing Race takes place; and John Weston Nature Reserve, also managed by Essex Wildlife Trust, where you can see interesting flora and nesting birds spread over bramble scrub, rough grass and natural ponds.  Lovely walks and outstanding views over the backwaters.

A couple of pubs still operating in the village and a general stores/sub-post office.
